SPRINGBOARD APPEARS ON THE 5 O'CLOCK NEWS
70
It is said that everyone eventually is honored with their very own 15 minutes of fame. Yesterday that honor literally landed on my doorstep thanks to a local deputy who was recently charged with an OWI after being found intoxicated, sitting in his personal vehicle with his engine idling, on my street. Justin Williams, a local Fox News reporter came knocking on my door and wanted to know how I felt about the story, and with camera rolling I offered my opinion to the best of my ability—through twitchy nerves no doubt. TV is not my gig, if you know what I mean. If only they would have let me put up a link to my HubPages. Wow, imagine the traffic I might have been able to reel in off of that.
For now I'm just trying to keep as low a profile as I possibly can. Surely there are people gawking in through my living room windows as we speak trying desperately to get a closer gander at a local celebrity. It might be difficult for me to trek out to my local McDonald's for my new favorite, Angus Mushroom & Swiss burger if I get hungry, so luckily I've got plenty of ramen noodles in the cupboard. That should do the trick at least until all the hype dies down. Besides, with writer's cramp from all those autographs I'll no doubt have to sign, I probably won't be able to even hold on to my burger.
Ummm. Yeah.
In any event, here is the news clip from the story. Springboard in all his glory on a cold winter day, with snow falling in the backdrop, on the 5 o'clock news on Fox 6.

Wow, that was great. Honestly, you spoke beautifully and looked very composed. They really gave you a lot of air time, which is unusual. Terrific job!
Cool...I've accidently been on the news before but I don't think they "interview" 10 year olds when the house next door catches fire! Gooo springboard!
I want an autograph.
Keep on hubbing!
Well, you are a star now! You handled that very well and stated the things that were pertinent to the situation. good job.
Springboard is my new hero. Are you planning the "Pilot" yet?
Great camera presence Jim.
Howdy Springboard - 15 minutes was not enough. So those of us who enjoyed your article and the video clip will here conduct a short vote to see if you may have one extra minute of fame. Reckon that will be OK. You got it.
Gus :-)))
I liked it when you said: "If only they would have let me put up a link to my HubPages. Wow, imagine the traffic I might have been able to reel in off of that."
Ha-ha! That's funny. I think I would have fell out of my chair laughing, while watching that clip, if Fox News would have gave a shot-out to HubPages. It would have been nice, though. Yeah, your traffic would have been soaring. Enjoy the fame, while it last... :)
Seems to me you are a natural. maybe you can get a gig as a Fox News Contributor. Imagine the bucks.. You did a great job and came across very credible.
aw heck.
I'm in Cali with a weak connect. I'll have to check it out when I get back home to Texas.
A star is born!
I did not see the news clip, but thank you for the "wierd" news as they news shows call it.
I still say my favorite part was about Joe blow. I wonder how many shout outs Joe blow gets? lol!! Great job and very well stated on all accounts! :)
" Springboard in all his glory on a cold winter day, with snow falling in the backdrop, on the 5 o'clock news on Fox 6." - Lol that was funny, enjoyed it !
Can ya mail me yer autograph ; )
LOL our own hubpages celeb. You did good, I'd have been a dork. The reporter on the steps there was less eloquent than you.
This is great, Jim! You don't sound nervous at all - plus, you sound intelligent! You should have blurted out your HP profile addy. lol.
What's all that white stuff??
Your writing skills come across in the way you speak as well. I am sure that's why they gave you so much airtime. Very well done.
Well done Jim! Hope your hand has recovered from signing all those autographs, LOL! You come across warmly in spite of the snow!
Love and peace
Tony.
It was really great for you to speak out in public. You are right. The safety of the community is important. Anybody who commits drunk driving is not worthy of any position in the government. You are a good example of being a proactive citizen. Keep it up!
How about that! You were great on camera and I like what you said. We should all be held to the same standard of justice.
Cool! Now I'm following a "famous" man! Give us an update, if you can, about the outcome of the lawman's misbehavior. I'm just curious....
Good! He needed to be fired. And I would love to read a Hub on the whole story!
Hello, sir! I finally made it back to civilization. . .by that I mean a place with high speed internet. I thought you did exceedingly well on that, as I would have probably jumped up and down, shouting, "THEY SHOULD LOCK THAT MOFO UP AND THROW AWAY THE KEEEEEEEEEEYYYYYY!"
In Texas, the good ol' boy club is systemic withing our pd's.
At the risk of sounding mmother hen-ish, why weren't you wearing your hat?! LOL Good work, though. I loved the hub and appreciated your 15mins of fame!
Wow!
Now I feel so honored not only do I have a great writer visit my hubs from time to time, but he is a TV star as well. Wait till I tell the kids. :) Great hub springboard. You speak as great as you write my friend. Just think if you get a writer's block, you can always be a news anchor.

Congratulations. You need to get a hat with your HubPages link on it, like the professional poker players. When they point the camera at you, the publicity is free.
